Default Best Alarm on the market for our Lexus?

Hi,
Yesterday night my wife told me that our passenger side mirror was stolen from our car. I was thinking why would some @ss would steal a side mirror?

Well my question is: What is the best aftermarket alrm on the market with proximity sensor, glass, motion, and maybe a flame thrower?

Hey Jimmy,

Does it notify you on the remote when the alarm has been tripped?

Does it allow you to remotely roll down the windows?

What about open the trunk without the key? I use this feature almost everyday!

Does it come with a backup battery or did you have to buy it after the install. Is the battery made by Viper or third party?

Thanks.

I too have the Viper 79oxv. Yes it does page me when the alarm is activated, or when I remote start the car. The system is awesome I love it. The backup system is extra I do not have that. This product carries a lifetime warranty so if anything goes wrong they fix it. The new 791xv replaced the 790 and the remote is a lot better. Good Luck.

Good question Ballin - Great post.... I wasn't even thinking about an aftermarket alarm until reading this post. My paranoia grown the more I add to the car. The best price I found for this alarm was 200.00 and I'm guessing the install will run about $80.00

Lexis11 - If someone disconnects the battery to stop the alarm what happens?

Well, I think an alarm like HitechGS would cost roughly around $400, and another $400 for labor and parts. Thats if I guested right by comparing with other models.

If someone disconnects the battery I guess they would have had nto get into the car to pop the hood or smash the hood latch in which case my pager would go off. Once the battery is reconnected my alarm will then sound as well.

The overall cost of these we have go for about 500-600 installed with the module for the remote start. With the proximity feature prolly another 125. Greatest thing I have ever owned. It has vibrate so when I am at the club I will feel it if goes off.

There is no "best for our cars" but there are better units than some. A severly underrated company that has never let me down is Excalibur. I have had one on my car since the week i bought it. I used to sell them, so i was always in the know on tech support and from what i have seen AND experienced, Excalibur can run as much as 50% less than viper and do as much if not more in some cases.

ZERO glitches, and not one single RTV (return to Vendor) sent back for a problem after selling roughly 400 units.

The funny thing is, there are alot of alarms out there that are owned by DEI, they are just branded differently for a larger saturation of the marketplace.....most common one being Viper.

I have a DEI now, but am upgrading to the Compustar SS one. They have a little less expensive one that used FM broadcast instead of Spread Spectrum. Same features though. It's pricey though.

I'm with OLT. I've used Excalibur before and it has a lot of bells and whistles for the money. I too had zero down time with mine. It was years ago, but same story applies. It's still on the car today after more than 10yrs. Still works fine.

I've also used the Clifford Intelliguard series with a lot of success. It had tons of features too. Was very satisfied with it. Still on that car today and it was installed over 6yrs ago.

I have been searching E-bay for the Viper 790 or 791 without much luck, but I always seem to come across other LCD pager alarms that are supposed to be the same as the Viper that cost like $100. Are these systems any good, or are they garbage?
