Alpine Nav antenna placement
I have a 2000 GS4 and am about to install an Alpine Nav system. I'd like to install the antenna on the rear deck, but I've found the following instructions:
* Don't place the antenna on your rear deck if you have a finely wired rear defogger.
* Don't place it inside the vehicle if you have a windshield-mounted radio antenna or a solar-reflective windshield.
I believe the GS4 has both of those, correct? Has anyone had success with mounting the antenna on the rear deck in a GS?
Thx,
-Corey

The stock pioneer antenna is mounted on the rear deck.
Are your windows tinted? If they are tinted with a semi-metallic tint, this could cause problems as well.
I had to relocate mine from the rear deck, cut a small square out of my tint, and adhere the antenna to the rear glass where the cut was made...

Nope, no tint. Sounds like I'll be fine mounting the Alpine on the rear deck...
I'm wondering if I could mount it right under the Subwoofer grill since I have the stock sub speaker removed... That would keep it really stealth, although it might provide too weak of a signal.

Where in So Cal are you?
There is a factor indentation on the rear deck, you should be able to mount to there. It is to the right of the factory sub mount (if facing trunk). This should make the install a bit more stealthy.

Core, I have the Alpine NAV in my car. I placed the ant in the front dashboard (where dashboard and front windshield meet). It is right in the middle. No problems for over a year. My friend have the same system in his GS4, the same location too.
