Default GS400 Navigation question

I am new to clubLexus and have been looking through quite a few posts. Everyone seems knowledgeable and friendly.

I am in the search of a GS400 and I am trying to decide whether or not to get the navigation.

If I do get the navigation:

1. Can I hook up DVD/TV/Other inputs to the navigation monitor?
2. What other features are included with navigation system (I noticed some options on BananaGS’s website)?
3. Are the hard drive based Navigation systems hard to update?

If I do NOT get the navigation: (then I will want to install my own)

1. How hard is to install a screen flush with the dash (like RMMGS4 in the featured car section?
2. Has anyone else installed the screen flush like RMMGS4 has done?

If anyone has information or can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I am curious also. I am in the market for a GS4 and cannot find one with Nav in my area. I know that you can hook up the NAV to play dvd but how hard is it and what is the cost? Have you seen the new Pioneer unit that is dvd/nav/cd all in one? It comes out in March and is $2200.

My 99 GS is hard drive based and I was able to get the latest Sept. 03 update under basic warranty. The latest 03 update has one million points of interest versus 700000 on the Fall 2002 version.
You mentioned BananaGS and his website has a DIY to update the hard drive. The climate control, trip computer also use the navigation monitor. I love the navigation system because I no longer to carry maps when I am traveling. I would think it is cheaper to find a GS with the factory navigation system instead of installing one on your own.

Having navigation is really sweet. You probably want to find a GS that has the OEM nav because I would assume it's really hard and expensive to try and put one on yourself.

I have a hard drive based nav on mine. I want to get an updated version of it since the one I have is from '98.

Aftermarket navigations such as Alpine and Pioneer are real good too and they are not hard to install.

Yes with additional hardware!

Audio, climate, etc.....

3. Are the hard drive based Navigation systems hard to update?

No, but it must be done by the dealer as its a swap program.
