94 LS400 w/ Nakamichi Front Speakers
I can't seem to find replacement component speakers that run at 1 ohms, if anyone knows what I can do to replace my problem, please help.
Problem : Front right passenger side woofer (is that what you call it?) is blown out, I know it's the speaker itself because I hooked up a ghetto speaker to the same wiring and it worked, then I hooked up the blown out speaker to a different souce and still didn't work.
Is this a common problem for 1994 LS400's with the Nakamichi?
I called the Lexus dealer and it's 540$ for the replacement (ONE) speaker which I personally think is B.S. and am not paying that much on a car that is only worth ten times as much
Tweeters and Cartoys both said that they would have to redo my entire system which would run the price of about $1000 including parts and installation. That's not cool either. I'm looking at no more than $200 looking at www.crutchfield.com but I can't seem to find 4" component speakers that run at 1 Ohm. If I'm wrong about the resistence someone please tell me.

Couple of my speakers were blown. Didn't want to dish out the dough for what didn't even seem to be Nakamichi brand speakers (there's no label/print on the speaker itself) from the dealer. So I went to a local car audio shop and replaced them with 4" 2-way Clarion speakers for around $150-200 with installation (I think?) at the time. The sound quality is the same if not better than the stock speakers IMO...but I'm not sure if they run at 1 Ohm...if I can find the box that they came in I'll try to check up on it and get back to you.

Thanks man, I appreciate that, if it isn't 1 Ohm and your speaker works fine, that'd be perfect as well. The audio shop told me that if I ran at 4 Ohms that's be getting 25% of my power to the speakers which would in the end blow them out in about a month.

vraa not POSITIVE but fairly certain your OEM Lexus Nakamichi '94 LS400 door speaker is 4 ohm. Remove the speaker from the box in the door and check the back of the speaker and it should have printed the ohm/watts and say Nakamichi Corp with a part number. Possible the original speakers have already been replaced by a prior owner. The least exspensive/simplest cure is getting a used factory speaker from a salvage yard, cost $75-$80. Recommend Tap Recycling. <taprecycling.com> Dealer price is way too much and audio shop is trying to reel you into replacing the whole system, all you need is one factory speaker at a reasonable price. Four Door.

Four Door : I appreciate the link for Tap Recycling, I sent them off an inquiry today!
Lexus Audio: Are you sure? If that is the case wouldn't I just be able to the purchase a 4" component set up and install it myself? I have taken off all the door panels before and I do have experience pluggin and unplugging wires, but that's about it

Thanks BR1AN! Really appreciate the information you've given me.
In the end I've decided not to do anything to the car and just wait until I can get a new car which will be either a few months, or whenever this LS400 dies (haha).

I blew out another speaker which was the passenger drivers side.
I moved the working front speaker to the *new* blown out spot and i used cotton swabs to prevent the speakers on both sides of the rear from clapping. If you sit in the back the audio quality is pure heaven.
Come to the front though and all you have is some lame treble you can barely hear.
Do I have to buy a 4" Component setup or can I just get a 4" speaker to replace the one I moved to the back?
Whatever I do I'll duplicate on the right hand front side also because that speaker was also blown.
