Default Nak CD changer problems

My cd changer reads some cds about 30% of the time and rarely reads CD-Rs. I got a 93 sc400 with the nak system. I was wondering if anyone replaced JUST the cartridge and had it work. I'd rather just buy the cartridge then the whole cd changer. If anyone has either in perfect condition please let me know.

I had that problem w/ my pioneer (prem. sys) 1993 SC400 -- it wouldn't read Data CD-Rs.

Try using music CD-Rs instead -- they're a little more expensive, and can't be burned as fast, but I found that they worked the best. I'm guessing it's got to do with the reflectivity of the data CD-R -- it's not high enough for the old school CD changer.
