mute wire on premium system-GS300
Hello,
I've searched the forums but no answer was found whether the premium sound system on a GS300-02 has a mute wire. I want to install a parrot bluetooth car kit or sony ericsson, but the vendors tell me the mute function may not work.
Any info is appreciated.

According to the specs for the 2002 GS300 on www.autotrader.com, your car is "telephone ready" so it will have at least one mute point. Some people connect to the mute terminal at the amplifier or head unit. Personally I think it is easier to find the pre-wire telephone harness and attach the mute wire to an existing connector. On my 2000 LS, I attached the phone kit's mute wire to the center front terminal (I just plunged the wire into the connector and used a wire tie to hold it in place) of a male connector under the rear of the center console - a five minute job. I don't know if your GS has this connector. There was also a mute point in the trunk of my LS. You can find the mute point by turning on the radio and probing the terminals on the car's phone harness with a grounded test light until the radio mutes. An electrical diagram for your car might help. If your car has a phone antenna in the rear window you can use it too! I put a link in the LS forum a few weels ago on how I hooked up the mute wire on my LS. Search for my user name "Kansas" or PM me. Another GS owner just posted photos of how he attached his phone kit to his GS with NAV. Your car may have the same connectors as his car.
