Default Audio Help Plzz

I installed a 1200 watt amp powering 2 10" subs in my SC3 just recently by running a low level converter off my stock amp wiring inot RCA and a 8 gauge power lead from the battery. I don't know why but sometimes it would be head pounding loud with the volume **** half way and the subs really bump, but other times I would just hear the stock speakers and not the bump of the subs at all. I thought that it was the wiring or something.

Any advice would help! Thanks.

It could be a safety feature. On some systems, if you have the volume up when you first turn it on, it will automaticly mute so your speakers won't blow with that first surge. Did you bypass the stock amp with the low level converter into an aftermarket amp, or are you still useing the stock amp and going strait into the speakers, or are you still useing the stock amp and going into an aftermarket amp, or are you bypassing the stock amp with the low level converter strait into the speakers? Sorry for all the questions, just wasn't clear on how your set it up. Hope that helps.

I tapped the wires going into the stock amp and used it for my new amp.

I don't think that;s the problem. The problem is that when I'm driving, my subs won't "bump anymore and all I hear is my stock speakers.

is the output dieing in and out or is it just cutting out altogether?

If it's cutting out altogether can u see if your amplifier is still on when it's doing it?

What do you mean output dying in and out?

I don't know if my amp is on or not but I'm pretty sure it is on because I can still hear the hums, but no bump.

Basically does it get louder and quieter but still remains on?

Sounds like a loose connection or maybe your amp overheating. Does it happen only after playing it for awhile or just at random? Also, what amp, because if its a true 1200w rms amp you need something bigger than 8 awg wire.

it occurs randomly, the rms rating is 200rms @ 4 ohms and 600 max @ 2 ohms and my 2 subs are wired at 2 ohms.
