Where to put XM radio control panel in a LS-430
If anyone has installed a Terk "XM Commander" (or any similarly sized XM radio) in a LS-430, I'd love to get recommendations as to where the control unit (i.e., the part with the display/buttons/****) should be placed.
Looking around there seems like no good place to put the unit. I've tentatively narrowed down my choices to placing the unit:
-- over the CD changer panel
advantages: presumably good visiblitlity and good access to controls.
disadvantages: changes the look of the LS (minor issue), concern operating the controls would unlatch the panel (significant issue), potential issue with wire routing including long term duability of a wire which is repeatedly bent (significant issue).
-- inside the small tray with a power source next to the gear shift
advantages: tray can be closed to hide the unit and retain the stock look, controls appear operable by touch.
disadvantages: no visiblity to read the display, thus using controls other than the presets may be difficult.
Please give me your recommendations, especially if you have personal experience with this.
thanks,
