I know this question have been asked for many times.
After searched some old threads, I know the GS sub at the rear is 10" free air type.
Many recommended JL 10IB4 but the product discontinued. So what other option for the sub? I prefer the set up is as easy as possible due to no experience on this topic.
Is an amp a must for the sub? if it is, what's your recommendation? Do I need to run seperate power cable from battery or use the existing one?
Please help point me to the right direction.

If you upgrade the sub, you will need another amp. The factory amp will not push your sub enough. You will need to run new power wire, etc for the new amp. DONT use the existing power wire..its too thin, and you will not get a good power source for the amp, and you will prolly blow some fuses.
look on ebay, you might find that jl sub there.

it should be very easy actually. the hardest part will be to add the rca preamp adaptor.
You have to get the sub signal wires before they go into the amp. in other words, the unamplified signal...otherwise you will risk frying your preamp adaptor.
To remove the subwoofer, you have to take out your entire back seat. you remove the bottom part first, then unbolt the back seat coushin then you remove the rear deck lid, and then take the factory sub out.

I couldn't find a very solid answer from someone who did the upgrade.

I'd be willing to be it would sound great, especially if you up the gain on your factory amp like someone posted a couple days ago, I'm sure its still in the first page of this forum. I put mine at F5 R5 and got much more bass even from the stock woofer.
