sc300 pioneer amp problems.
I got a 93 sc300 with the pioneer premium sound w/cd changer. The problem is when im playing cd's and turn my volume passed half and its hitting the high notes the system blanks out like its not getting enough power from the amp.
also when im trying to select a track my 40% of the time it will not go to the right track. it will just jump to the middle of some other track before it like it doesnt know where the track starts. perhaps the lense that reads the cd's in the cd changer is dirty or something.
can anyone diagnose my problem im more concerned about the blanking out of my system as its quite annoying when i want to crank it up and it just blanks out on you like the cd is skipping but in reality the system is turning off and on like there isnt enough power going to it. Could be due to a faulty amp? from what i know the pioneer system comes with 2 amps one for the sub and another 4 channel amp for the speakers thats located under the cd changer. I had this issue since i bought the car a month ago and since then i've changed the battery thinking that may be it but that didnt solve my problem. hopefully its not the alternator and its just a faulty amp or something.
so to sum things up do i need a new amp? since the pioneer system has 2 amps im not sure which one to replace or if thats even the issue..
thanks in advance for your inputs.

The problem is the changer itself. The amp is working fine.. Im just going to take a guess and say that 99% of the cd's that skip or start in the middle of a song are ones that you burnt right? The stock cd changer is really not up to par with burnt CDs. Solution is to either install a new in-dash unit and screw the stock changer or innstall and FM modulated aftermarket changer. Both will probably fix your problem.
Stock changer=old----Fix= go new

Yes you can add an aftermarket changer and keep the stock pioneer or Nak head unit. It will have to an FM modulated unit meaning in order to get the cds to play, the radio must be set to a certain frequency like 88.3.. The sound is good but not as good as a Cd being played out of an aftermarket deck.. Basically the sound is better than radio but not as good as a dedicated cd player.

whoa , you confused me a bit here on the wording of the question.... The process is somewhat plug and play but not really. It is a PITA process. You have to take out your whole cosole to access the back of the radio and take the wires from your aftermarket changer and find the correct pin to stick them into. IT is hard to explain. I did mine about a year ago. I need to refresh my mind on how we did it...

Hmm ok so a lot of work in terms of pullig the dash/console off to access the rear of the stock deck...but from there on it is simply a matter of finding the right pins? I got all summer to find these pesky pins if it'll save me labor $$ at the local car audio place lol

are you sure it couldnt be the amp? it does seem wierd that the system onli blanks out when i have the bass turn all the way up and turn the volume up passed half. It seams more like there isnt enough power its blanking out cuz its drawing too much power and the amp cant take it. It plays fine till i crank it up. But perhaps it could be the cd changer since it does resume play after a second or 2 then it blanks out over and over till i turn the volume down a bit.

all the speakers blank out for 2-3 seconds then it comes back on and resumes play where it left off and then blanks out again repeatedly every few secondsd till i turn down the volume. This happends with cd's and radio. Sounds somewhat like a cd skipping when u hit a big bump in the road but happends when i play the radio real loud as well so i dont think its the cd changer. I'm thinking its most likely the 4 channel amp or maybe its the head unit. im doubting that its the sub amp even though the sub's blanks out as well. I'm think changing amps would be my best bet.. then if that doesnt work maybe i need to swap head units.
