wow!?! I really appreciate you taking the time to call and stuff... thats real cool of you man...

well now that we've established the little power it takes to drive the IB4 sub... is the original amp i have now sufficient? And would that PPI amp make it sound better when i turn it up?

The sub sounds fine right now... its just that i feel like i can't turn it up... when i turn up the volume or the gain for that matter... the sub starts to distort pretty bad. Is this just the IB4 sub? Or an amp issue?

okay after some research... another issue was brought to my attention that might cause the distortion i'm getting at higher volumes...

the line level to RCA converter i'm using is connected AFTER the factory sub-amp.... not BEFORE (between the headunit and factory sub-amp) ... would this cause the distortion i hear at higher volumes?

did anyone call JL and see what amp they recommended to go with the IB4 sub....because i have one and its just laying around....

okay... i've determined that my problem is with my amp... it sucks...


so i've got the following amps that i'm looking at since i missed that PPI one...

i'm looking to get the most out of my money... so please advise accordingly..

i ended up getting 2 amps... my GF bought me a JL e1250 amp... small 2 channel with a bridgeable bass enhanced output and a built-in lowpass frequency... and the JBL one... i'm using the JL


now my IB4 hits NICE! real nice... the sound quality is amazing and much much louder and better sounding than stock...

the JBL one i got was used... and for some reason wouldn't work in my setup... but worked in my friend's car... never figured out why.... my GF (at the time) saw my frustration and bought me the JL.

i could sell you the JBL.... but i still... to this day dunno why it won't work in my car...

hey where did you mount your amp at?....that will be my next challenge.... im gonna try to hide it behind the carpeting in the trunk...

well for the time being... i have it standing up on the side of my trunk... doesn't take up much room at all... i was thinking about hiding it behind the carpet... but i want easy access to it
