just traded my 04 acura tl with xm radio for an 01 ultra. now since I pre paid for 3 years for the xm signal I need to know is there an elegant way to integrate an xm receiver and antenna into the 01 ls?

It's not easy. Do a search on this forum for XM under my user name for reasons why it's difficult. I finally got XM installed in my '03 (did it myself) but the absolute best way was with an FM modulator. Getting that installed was no easy task. I basically had to cut the antenna cable, make some custom pigtail adapter cables and splice in the FM mod. (Lexus uses proprietary antenna connectors which is why I had to do it this way) I have the XM Commander installed and apart from the relatively low volume, it works flawlessly. I took alot of pictures of the installation and would be willing to share them with you if you are interested.

well it appears that the only option for me is to use the commander. the stereo guys here said the fm modulation is the only way to go. its just going to be velcroed or double sided taped to the door of the cd changer since that seems to be the best place for the head unit to go. unless someone can show me different. my appointment is for the 22nd at 2pm if its not. I will tell the installer to put it somewhere else if someone can SHOW me a better place.

i got a XM roady which is a more economic solution to the commander.

they came out with roady 2 which is not as thick.





i use the included FM Modulator / Power Plug that goes into the power socket in the middle console. works well.
