FM modulation question (sirius satelite)
I got Sirius in my wife's Lexus.
They told me it is FM Modulated but it is hard wired. I have good reception and never lose a station but they don't sound great either.
If I am listening to the Satelite and then flip to a regular FM station I have to turn the volume way down because I had to turn up the volume on the satelite to hear it.
The way I understand it is something plugs into my antenna and one part goes to the sirius tuner and the other part to my factory radio. Can those two parts be backwards. If this is not the way it works, then please correct me.
I am just looking for a better sound in my wife's car

I've got XM satellite radio, and not Sirius, but here are a few thoughts:
- The Sirius radio should have a level control. Have you tried turning that up all the way?
- I don't think the antenna connections could be switched.
- Your best source for information is a Sirius-user's web site. Like XM411.com and XMfan.com for XM.
- There are audio boosters that are sold that can boost the audio level between the Sirius and the FM modulator. Once you get the audio level normalized, and you still don't like the sound, then you might have to look into whether the newer generation of Sirius radios (or XM radios) sound better. It should sound at least as good as FM stations in my opinion.

I would buy a new radio with XM or Sirius built-in but it would look ugly with the way the dash of the Lexus is.
I will check into a booster .. Do you have a link by chance??
Yes the FM Mod is all the way up to 4 ..

I really hesitate to push a booster as a solution, because that maybe just compensating for a solvable problem. You would need to be sure that just audio is riding the cable (i.e., no power to the FM modulator on the same cable). Here is a link:

I think the best idea is to check out the Sirius users web sites for advice first.

Something smells very wrong here. I would not try the booster because of even more quality issues. I would think that the Sirius level should be higher than the reg FM level. You should have the installation re-checked, and also check with other FM-modulated Sirius users to see if this is a typical problem. If it is NOT due to your particular installation, then others will be complaining about the same problem.
