anybody replace their 4" speakers with 4"??
i have a new 1993 sc400 and i'm trying to get my stereo up and running on the inexpensive tip (one rear is blown, both front woofers are blown)....i'm looking at having 4's installed all the way around and was wondering if anyone has done this and if so what they thought of the performance.
someone suggested boston acoustics fx4 coaxils for the rear which are $80 pair. any others?
from reading old threads, it sounds like component speakers are needed upfront. any suggestions there (under $100?)
the 5 1/4 upgrade requires another $50 in install per pair, which is why i'm leaing towards keeping the 4's.....but, if some members are less than pleased w/ sticking w/ 4's i will resonsider.
no comments on my cheapness!! i just spent $1350 on timing belt, $130 on tint, $150 on brakes, $420 on wheels, and still need the stereo and a $350 redo of the drivers seat leather.

You'll be fine with the 4"
but, if you are using the stock HU and amp don't get speakers that demand a lot of power...try to stick with a decent brand of course (pioneer, alpine - see what's on special). You want to try to match the stock speakers' power usage as much as possible for the best results.
And if you are saving money don't pay someone to install them! That's what car forums are here for. DIY it. Sounds like you already spent enough $$$.
