Installed a new Clarion 935vd DVD now no Radio on the GS400..help
I just had the AMS Stereo shop in Santa Clara install my new Clarion 935vd DVD player in my GS400. My system is all stock so they integrated the new stereo with the factory amp and speakers. After the install I found out the radio signal is poor. I cannot pick up any local radio stations (94.9, 106.1) and this really sucks. They told me I have two internal anntenas in the car and that there was nothing they could do about the signal because of the factory setup. They told me anyone will have this problem was a GS400. Also it makes popping sounds when i turn off and on the stereo.
I just wanted to know if anyone out there who has an aftermarket stereo (specially a dvd player) installed with the factory amp setup have this problem? or are they just Bull****ing me because i dont know how to install it right...
thanks

I had poor radio reception too when my dvd/monitor was being installed. Turned out to be a faulty radio extension wire from the brain to the factory antenna plug. There's 2 plug for the antenna, 1 regular size and 1 smaller size. Just use the bigger size and you should be fine. They're BS'ing you about the radio thing. The popping-I'm not sure. Check for proper grounding and the remote wirings. Hope this helps.
Anytime when an installer blames the car/radio and not his work, you know he's full of bologny b/c the stock system works perfectly fine b4 he does the aftermarket installation.
Just re-read your thread, so seems like bad wiring/integration of the dvd player somwhere. Have them recheck it, as a matter of fact, has he done installation on Lexus's before???

thanks for the info...i think im going to give it a try and replace the radio extension wire. im going to do this myself because those guys at AMS think they are certain that it is the GS400 that has the problem.. Didn't make any sense to me either...
