I just removed the custom, perfectly flush dash kit that was fabricated from scratch for my avn-2454 to make room for the jdm double din kit i purchased from carson toyota. The custom piece I had made just didn't look factory enough and after viewing camren's photo I fell in love with the JDM kit. Unfortunately, I think the angle of Camrens photos were misleading and the screens sits out farther than stated ..
Hey Camren??? Did your shop modify the fitment or does your unit sit out about a 1/4" from the face plate??
Thanks,
Lev

Mine... the Shop guy adusted... played with the brackets to make it sit so its sticking out 2/10th of an inch out from the dash... (the way i wanted it)
Problem with the Avn Double Din unit is that the screen and its surrounding is a little smaller then a " true double din unit" so even if you have it flush with the dash...itll be sitting flush... but youll still have a slight open Gap around the screen... (unless you get a custom dash kit built) .... but problems with the Custom stuff is the factory dash paint match... and Oem fitting...
i say take it to a audio shop... mayb a one where you know an employee or 2.... and have then mess with the brackets that came with the Dash you orderd from carson toyota .... (you did order all 3 peices right? front dash peice... Left bracket & Right bracket) im sure youll get it solved...
plus you gotta rmbr the Screen needs enough room to clear the front top peice of the dash when it Goes forward and Down to Open so you can insert Cd;s etc..
Mine fits just the way i want it.... ill Take some side Angle shots of the Dash where the Eclipse unit goes to show how xactly mine is...

Camren,
Thanks for the detailed relply.
I think the slight gap around the screen will be more acceptable than the non OEM paint and fittment I get from my custom dash kit piece.
All I know is I hate the way it looks right now and CL members should be aware of this problem before purchasing the jdm kit for the avn-2454..

thanks for posting the pics... much appreciated!!!
i've decided to just have my custom dash piece polyprimed and painted to match the factory paint.
the unit fits perfectly flush that way and my audio shop has a paint guy that can match it perfectly for about 125.00 I hope.. my analness is beginning to get very expensive but t I stare at the dash kit/avn-2454 and after shelling out so much cash i want it perfect.
the jdm kit seemed like a perfect option but it just doesn't work to my standards.. You either have it stick out, have a space around unit or have it customized which will need it to be repainted..
