Thumbs down XM ready ?

it's just bs to see the car/home audio industry keep making products w/o built-in decoders for that medium and then they called it ready this, ready that. ready for what ?? for several more hundreds on a seperate decoder?

i haven’t done anything to my car audio sys in 10yrs and i wanted to swap out my ancient sony MD in-dash player with an in-dash radio that has xm tuner. i saw many models with the xm logos and assumed it can do that, until i found out that these are just xm ready and the tuner is not available for many of them yet. car audio tech technology is so slow, haven’t change much in 10yrs in my opinion.

Yup as a manager of a store I fell your pain.
When Alpine and Pioneer came out with there XM ready lines last year they actually had the tuner packs ready and available. We sold so many tuner packs to go with the radios and eventually sold out. At that time Alpine and other manufactures stopped production of these tuner packs. That is when Terk and other companies stepped up and said they were going to make universal tuner packs and we have yet to see them.
DEI is also supposed to be releasing Sirius tuners that will work with Alpine. I have some on order, when we will see them we have no idea.

GO RED SOX!!!!!!!!!! I hope they resign Pedro!

Yes this is a problem with both XM and SIRIUS. Your best bet is to get a head unit with AUX inputs and get a Plug N Play unit. This way its portage. I have a SIRIUS PnP in my car and found a nice mount for it on ebay. I will go outside and snap some pics of it and post it although I havent finished installing it yet.

i just found a good deal on a xm ready sony HU (cdx-f5700) for $160 and i found this xm tuner w/ sony adapter for $105. the total is $265 which is not bad since i needed to to upgrade my HU to something with a remote and xm. also the roady2 cost $120 already and the remote for another $25. im happy w/ the other route instead now i just need to know where's a good place to mount that xm antenna
