I would say top SQ would be Morel, DynaAudio, CDT, Focal...they to me over the sofar the highiest SQ comp. for the car......then mid...would say alpine,jl,mb, and so on

I'm trying to decide between the CDT CL-51's or the JL XR525-CSi components for my LS400.
Any reccomendations between the two, or any other set of components in this budget? (~~$200)

there's a lot of great components out there, it's really a matter of preference.
I like ADS (pre DEI), Boston, CDT, Dynaudio,Morel, Diamond audio, and Focal.
there's probably some other brands worth mentioning, but i can't remember.
Also don't forget to take into account that the installation is just as important, if not more.

I'm a little partial to CDT since I used them for my previous IASCA car..
www.carsonics.com is my website for my Infiniti QX4.. Now I'm working on another project for CDT hopefully something that will win SQ comps like my QX4 did.

Good product helps quite a bit for good SQ, but for GREAT SQ, install must be GREAT as well.

Never listened to the LCY ribbons. Had EMITS and listened to the XES equivalent (went out to 45khz on the graph) but they always seemed to have a metalic sheen to them. MBQs were always harsh in my system (modded Mc gear) and the only things that did it right were the Dyn tweets. ESOTARs sounded incredible - listening to a set right now.
