My dad's old MB E-class had MB Quarts speakers on them, and I think they are the best sounding that I've ever heard. (although it might be because of the whole system set up too though).

Other than that, I think JL audio is good too.

Used to have LOTS of MBQ sets in my older installation. 218.03, 130.03, 130.02, HX25, etc. Dyns blew them all away when it came to neutrality, power handling..all the good stuff.

Best thing is to try them all head to head in a shootout. Tune them as best as you can for the speaker and then listen. The MBQ sounded "thin" with little midbass, while the Dynaudio had pretty much everything right. This was in a very limited enclosure of a '96 Grand Prix. With the Lexus, it sounds better due to the amount of volume/airspace behind the speaker.

Some may like the very bright sound (even toned down to -6dB on the xover) of the MBQ. Just a bit too harsh for me...and MBQ tech will still admit that there's a bit of "ringing" going on with their titanium tweeter, though they never discuss it in detail. Wonder why?

i love my mb quarts. sure they are a bit bright but it gives it a nice clear sounding sound system. You can hear every single note and the voice clarity on the mb quarts are great. the midrange is also there but you have to tune it right. on my old eclpise headunit it sound good, but on my new alpine 9835 man the mb quarts really come alive even without a sub woofer. they are sooo freakin clean sounding, i love it.

thats what the sub is for, that covers your low range.

I would vote for Focal or Dynaudio. Im not a big fan of MBQ, for the same reasons as Percy stated.

I have JL Audio now and although not a top shelf name for components they are very nice. I have tuned them perfectly so they sound real nice.
Before when I sold them I had MB Quart Q series and those things were real serious. Yes they were bright but when tuned they sounded awesome.

The best overall speaker no one has seem to speak on would have to be ADS which the sound quality is unbeliveable.

They work great in a more "ideal" enclosure. Very smooooth sounding.
