Ways to add 12" JL's & amp to factory ML System
I just purchased an 02 GS430 with the ML System and would like to add some bass to the ssytem. I would like to install 2 12" JL's as well as an amp but have read about the ML system on this forum. I do not wan to damage it and need to know ways to install the best way possible. I have seen topics with the use of PAC Line Level Converters but am not familiar with them. Any help would be wonderful.

Sup man,
Your best bet is to remove your OEM subwoofer and then use the speaker wires from it to feed to your LLC. Removing the OEM subwoofer will increase the bass because it acts like a port to enter the cabin. You then hook up your RCA patch cables from the LLC to the aftermarket amp. You may want to consider getting an amp that has an optional remote gain controller so you can adjust the volume of bass from the cockpit. JL Audio and Orion has this option.

To clear things up, LLC means Line Level Converter. Why use an LLC? because the ML system doesn't have RCA plugs so you'll have to T-tap some wires with the LLC and from the LLC, run RCA cables to the amp. FYI some amps do not require an LLC as they already have ports available for you to tap the wires with.
