Check Disc... Has anybody experienced this problem, and tell me how to come about it... If someone could respond quickly that would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem. Could someone please take out their disc from their 2004ish car and put a photo up for us to look at. I can't understand why it won't work. Maybe we got the wrong ones.

Why don't you post a picture of yours and we'll see if ours are different.

Grand.....

Apparently, there are two kinds of DVDs. One that comes with the vehicle and the other that is an update. So, you can't update a 2002 or earlier vehicle with a 2003 OEM DVD. At least, that is what I have been lead to believe.

Mink.....

What I have noticed is that the first number, such as 3.1, the 3 stands for 2003.

I have also noticed the the year is one year behind the current model. For example, the 2005 models have the 4.1 DVDs.

You might want to post in the GX 470 Forum. I know that at least one member has updated from 2003 to 2004.

Default Same problem

Hi, I have an '01 430 as well. I just bought a data ver 3.2 disk to upgrade. When I put the disk in the navigation ECU, I got an exact error message that Mink92890 got (Disk Read Error. Check Disc).

Mink92890, have you figured out what kind of disk will work in your system? I think there may be compatibility issue between the generation of the navigation system of the car and the different versions of the disks. But again I am not sure. I hope some knowledgeable person would straighten us out!

Go to and scroll all the way to the bottom to see two disks.

Thanks Capirato. I looked at these 2 threads and in order to "debug" this problem, I have prepared the following table indicating which version of the DVD works in which car. I extract the data from the posts and also from the folks' public profile. The DVD that does NOT work is underscored.

HANDLE
AUTOMOBILE
Map DVD

lexusnc
2003 GX470

86271-33033
464210-0510
DATA ver.04.1

capirato
2003 GX470

86271-33032
464210-0370
DATA ver.03.1

hhnguyen
2001 LS430

86271-47020
464210-5000
DATA 2000 ver 1

86271-33041
464210-0460
DATA ver.03.2

Mink92890
2001 LS430 Ultra

xxxxx-xxxxx
xxxxx-xxxx
DATA 2001 ver 1

86271-33040
xxxxx-xxxx
DATA ver.3.1

Sorry guys, the format of the table (which I prepared in Word) is screwed up when I post. Hopefully you guys can still read it. A couple of things that I observe:

1) mink92980, if you would please fill in the x's for the DVD you have, that would be great.
2) lexusnc, do you still remember the version of the old DVD that you had (before upgrade)?
3) The p/n's of the DVD ver.3.1 that capirato and mink92980 have are different! It seems to me there are 2 flavors of ver.3.1; perhaps for different cars. We know that capirato has a GX470. mink92980, do you know what car your DVD (ver3.1) came from?
4) The version 3.2 that I bought came from a 2003 Toyota according to the ebay seller.

I think we will need more data points before we can figure out what's going on.
