Alpine and IPOD interfacing?

Just wanted to ask if any of you guys are utilizing the newer alpine units with the IPOD adapter or maybe knows someone that is, and if so what are your thoughts on it? I'm looking to upgrade my Alpine flip-out for the new IVA-D901 and getting the IPOD adapter, but I have heard through a friend that he knows someone with the D300 and is not too pleased with how the unit controls the IPOD...Anyone?
