Default Dyn MW170 or 60s

Has anyone tried to put the Dynaudio MW170s in the front doors of a GS400 without door panel mods?
I know the 160s will fit.

Even with door mods, the MW170's won't fit due to the speaker mounting depth. The 160's will work if there is a spacer ring.

170's will work if you're using a kick pod configuration.

What thickness MDF do you recommend doing the speaker baffles with? Also how thick are the ring spacers need to be to clear the windows

I'm using 1 inch spacer rings with 1/2 inch mdf/birch. Others have had different combinations (1/2 inch spacer?) with good results. Don't go with anything more than 1/2 inch on the baseboard, otherwise the door may not go back together properly.

Been there, done that, gave up.

Using MD-100's with Diamond Audio s600 mid bass driver. Saving the MD-130's & MW170's for my newest "toy " in the collection.

Percy: Check your PM.

So if you use 1/2" MDF wood and put a 1/2 MDF wood spacer ring that should be okay to clear your window glass? Another question is do you have to seal your MDF custom made baffler board to the door or no?

I use strip caulk to seal the baffle/door. Works great!

Default Dyn MW170s in front doors of GS4

Gents,

Rebirthing an old question....

Has anyone tried to 170s in the front doors of a 2000 GS4 by modifying the door skin? I'm just wondering how much a panel to replace it if I sell the car. Anyone know where I can get a pair cheap?

Also Percy mentioned kick panels for the 170s? Where would you mount such a thing.

System to Date:
Zapco 1000.4 Running MW160 and 130 tweeters Biamped
Zapco 500.1 running Focal 27v2 (10") sub mounted in a custom back deck enclosure
