Question After Market Nav HELP

ok, im no new-B to CL, but i am a new-B to the audio/video forum... i think i been in here maybe once when i first joined CL, but have not been in here since and this is prob my 1st post here... i have a 2000 GS300 that is SCREAMING at me for some navigation, and the time has come for me to get it (or at least soon). my problem is this, i have NO CLUE what to get and NO CLUE what to search for since i have very little knowledge in this field. is it possible for me to get some type of screen that can fit into the dash so it looks somewhat factory?? also, i dont want a pop-out screen, i want the thing to sit in there like it came straight from the factory. is this do-able?? i know i saw RMMGS4 (i think that was his name), that had this done, but i dont know what to look for or where to start. also, will i have to re-do my system?? will i still be able to use my a/c controls and stuff?? what about the cd changer?? sorry to ask a million and 1 questions, but i wonna make sure i do this right so i dont have to re-do it later. also, i REALLY dont wonna spend more than $1500-$2000 on this, so will that be enough?? ANY input is GREATLY appreciated

Default Aftermarket Nav

Hello,

I too have been browsing these forums for quite some time. Unfortunately, this is the only mod that I have done to my car, thus it is really the only thing I can speak about with experience. Since you want aftermarket navi that looks factory, your best bet would be a double din unit which has the screen sitting in front. If installed correctly using the proper kit, it can be made to look close to factory. When I was shopping, I was deciding between 2 units, the Eclipse avn2454 and the Kenwood ddx7015. I went with the Eclipse bec it was an all in one unit (nav, dvd, cd). With the kenwood, you have to buy a separate unit for the navi which can cost more than the eclipse. I was able to purchase my unit and have it installed for a little under 2K. Other members have this same unit. Ones that come to mind are DaveGS4 and Lev. You can do a search for them and see pics of the units installed.
