Question nav upgrade for 2000 GS-400

I have a 2000 Gs-400 with nav. I will like to buy the upgraded hard drive. Now, I called a dealer and they said that $350.00 for the 2004 upgrade. I can buy it online but not the 2004, but the 2003 version for $300.00 . Can I do it by myself or I have to get the car to the dealer ? And , most importantly, can I get the 2004 version or it was just bs rom the dealer ? I heard that hard drive upgrades are only to 03 . Please, I need info on this. If someone has done it, explain the steps to follow, and where to get the hard drive. After paying $300.00 I really want to keep my hard drive. Thanks Josey

I called the dealer also and the2003 is the latest for the hard drive. You can get the update from Sewell for $270 and I understand it is very easy to do. I am going to give it a try in the next month.

Exclamation hard drive upgrade

Hey, Duece: I e-mailed this guy from Sewell, Darrel, and he replied that the price is $300.00 . Where did you get that amount, $270.00 , and from what discount ? Thanks Josey

Go to the sponsor lisr and under Sewell Lexus there is a code for Club Lexus members for 10% off. I think the code is CL911M. Put the code in at checkout and then hit recalculate.

Question

Duece : Perfect. I got it. Hey, $30.00 savings is something, at least. Now, the only thing left is to be totally sure that 2003 is the last upgrade for the hard drive nav. How can we find out for sure about that ? you know, so in 4 months or so I don`t find that the 2004 upgrade is out and I have lost $270.00 .... Is got to be a way to get this info for sure, I mean, I will like to be definitive. After all, 2003 is 2 years old already... Also, what about the install, is it easy , and we can do it ourselves ? If I can get answers I will order tomorrow. Thanks , Josey

Josey, I checked with a local dealer and they also told me 2003 was the latest update for the hard drive version. Darrel at Sewell also told me this. Something to do with the amount of imformation that the hard drive computer can handle. Not really sure what he meant. My version is a 99 so the 2003 has to be a huge improvement.

Thumbs up

Same here. 2003 is going to be a huge improvement. Well, then, it is final. I will order this week. Hope that the hard drive comes with instructions to do it myself . Thanks so much, Duece.... Josey

I just made the order. Now, to wait . I think that I will have it in a week or so. When I install it I will post . Even thou is not the latest 2004 upgrade, it is going to make a very big improvement for me, and, if this is the last upgrade for hard drives I want to have it. Josey

Josey,

Please post if you can do the upgrade yourself. I am a considering updating my 2000 LS400 NAV and interested to see what updates are on the 2003. My version is 01 and it needs some updates.

Thanks

I am in Jersey as well.

Yes, I will. Later on, in a couple of years, I will start looking into a aftermarket one , like the Pioneer latest , with 12 millions of poi. I the mean time this will do for $270.00 Josey
