Smile LS400 navigation radio install on a GS300

My factor radio in my 98 GS300 has some screen issues. I am about to buy a working navigation screen/radio/climate control of a LS400. I know the navigation install may be difficult, but does anyone know if the actual unit will fit in a GS3 and whether or not it's compatible with the cd changer? Thanks

first of all the new lcd screen can be purchased for 100.00 with photo install directions. it is about a 1 hour job and everyone has been able to do it with the directions. that would certainly be the best solution to your problem............................................................................................................ you would have to be a dremel wizard to fit the larger by 1/2 inch ls400 nav screen in a gs. you would have to dremel the sides a 1/4 inch on each side. then the whote top part with the clock and temp would have to be dremeled off as the gs doeant have that feature. the ls nav radio is 1 inch wider so you would have to switch to the gs radio or actually just the faceplate as the back of the radios exactly the same. then you would have to switch to the gs navigation ac/heater control as the ls and gs do not have the same heater control connectors. actually the navigation system plugs and amp are actually all gs parts even on the nav ls400 so the switch to gs from ls except for the headunit would not require switching any of the stereo parts ....................................................................................................................... of course you will need a gs navigation wiring harness but it will plug right into the ls400 nav head unit 2 plug 16 pin and 12 pin screen plugs are both the same on the gs and ls. except for the headunit the switch of an ls400 nav system to a gs is actually easier because the ls400 stereo system is totally different with amp under the passenger seat instead of amp next to the glovebox. so a retorfit of ls400 system to a ls400 non nav car requires swiching to the gs400 amp and wiring harness like was done on the assembly line when nav was installed in an ls400 they switched to the gs400 sound system. thats why you couldn't order nakamichi and navigation in the first generation ls and gs nav systems.
