I have a 2000 gs and I just installed my alpine head unit and phoenix gold 6 channel amp. The stock pioneer speakers sounds great, but the sub is not cutting it. I want something more. I was wondering which way I should go? Should I go with a 10 inch free air sub, or should I mount a sub/box in the same location? I remembering seeing another member do this. Thanks!!
I have a Phoenix Gold XS6600.
The sub channel is
4 ohm stereo @ 12/13.8 VDC: 25/75 WRMS x 2
2 ohm stereo @ 13.8 VDC: 150 WRMS x 2
4 ohm bridged @ 13.8 VDC: 300 WRMS x 1

I went to my car audio store today, and they had a JL 12ib4, brand new for $100!! He suggested that I go with 2 10's in a box instead, because free air wont have that tight bass. He had some good cheap 2 10 inch subs for $100 with a box.
What do you think I should go with. I really want that 12 because the install will be really sleek, but I also want something that sounds good too. What do you suggest? Will the 12 sound good?
