Default Opinions on this set up.

I'm not really looking for a top of the line, blow out your eardrums set up. I want something clean with minimal problems. I'm already running a Pioneer DVD HU. A local shop suggested the following to finish it out.

Eclipse Aluminum 12" sub in a sealed box
Eclipse 4 channel amp for mids & highs
Eclipse 2 channel amp for the sub.
Crystal 4" components for the doors.
Eclipse 5 1/4" coax for rear fill.

Amps will be mounted on a amp rack and all connectors and wiring will be PG.

The price I was quoted was $1300 out the door including install and tax.

Opinions? I'm not sold on this idea so feel free to be totally honest.

Eclipse Alum subs are very nice ive heard, loud and very clean.

All eclipse stuff is top notch, I've never really heard of crystal, but all of that for 1300 is a very good price.

on the 2 channel amp, I bet the installler just plans on bridging the amplifier to make it a mono amp.

Thanks for the input guys. My Pioneer HU pushing the stock speakers just isn't cutting it anymore.

The way he told me they were going to wire it was run the amp mono and run the dual voice coil 12" in series. The 12" is 2 ohm so it will be 4 ohm after running it in series.

Eclipse subs are very good.
Installed price seems reasonable, if not low.
I'd rarely pick Eclipse amps over other stuff that's out there, but they generally make pretty solid electronics. If that's what your installer likes to put in and is comfortable with, then go for it. You may want a 5 1/4 speaker in the front doors. Also find out what they plan on doing with the tweeters.

The Crystal speakers are components so I'll be using the Crystal highs as well. The Crystal 4" components are pretty beefy so fitting a 5 1/4" speaker may be difficult. They had a set of 6 1/2 Crystal components in the shop and they sounded very clean.

Depends on your car (SC), but most of us have fit 5 1/4" mids in the GS doors with a spacer ring to space it out a bit more. You may want to consider this if feasible - to get better midbass up front.

Thanks for the tip. I'll mention it to them and see what they say.
