Dumb question (even non noobs do it)
1st ....what is the device called that is used at indoor shows to be able to tap into their power supply(which i'm paying for) so you can have your lights, music and such work? a converter? or something like that?
2nd... is their a specific one that i would need to power up my led's in,under car and music and trunk display?
3rd... where do I buy one?

I thought an invertor lets you use your cars power to use home equipment like a tv or microwave? It changes 12 volts DC to 110v AC. You want something to plug into the outlet at the shows and connect to your car so you use there power to keep your battery from dieing. I think what you want is a maybea battery charger.

It is not an inverter that is needed, it is just a 12V DC power supply that is 110V AC powered. It is generally technically much easier to convert AC into DC. When going the other way and generating an increase in voltage, this is termed an 'inverter' - as in 12VDC to 110VAC. It is a much more complicated process, because the DC voltage has to be "chopped" to make AC out of it.
If you only had LEDs to power, you could use a standard battery charger. However, since you're powering your music system, the current drain will exceed what a battery charger can provide. You'll need to find a higher capacity 12V supply. Either someone here will know of one, or you can do a search on Yahoo for "12V DC power supply" and look for something that can provide 20 or more amps, depending on how hard you're going to drive your audio system and accessories. It will also help to know what your approximate current load will be, and size the supply for that.

Here's one from two different sources: http://www.eangler.com/webapp/wcs/st...51#description

You can also try ebay, search for "12 VDC Power Supply", you'll find them cheap, get one that's 15-20 amps or more. I'm sure anyone that does these shows regularly can help you with this too.
Once you get one, when you're ready to use it, disconnect your battery's positive terminal and connect the power supply to the (+) and (-) wires. Usually these can be hidden under the car, but don't put it under the gas tank, please. Don't forget, if you decide to juice up your audio and play tunes, you'll need a bigger supply.

Here's an interesting high-capacity one at the bottom of this page. If you're willing to spend the money, it might have other uses beyond just doing shows....
