this is my ipod connection, ghetto yes, functional yes, so who cares. anytime i want i can tuck it away under the dash panel somewhere. i usually use my ipod and put it in the cup holder, so the wires plently long. my unit had a aux input, but i couldnt afford a say peripheral ipod converter unit and have it installed, which connects directly to the ipod through the bottom charger slot. the only difference in mine is that it connects to the headphone jack, and sounds probably just as good, because it's similar to the tape deck hook up to the ipod, except i have no tape deck. this headphone jack connector cost me only 20 bucks! only thing im missing now is my 12cd changer that no longer works, but i never have to go to the trunk again for a cd!

add up the total:
- unit was supposed to cost 600 something dollars.
- ended up getting billed for 400 or 450.
- 100 for the install.
- external 300w 4 channel amp- 50 bucks.
- install amp (another day) plus all of the wiring and extra filters- 150
TOTAL = around 750 or so
i love the unit itself, and didn't wait to get up picks till i was completely done. first time i got it done was only the headunit and ipod jack, the "ground loop" was terrible and got very bad frequency noise through the speakers with rpm increase, or engine noise. 2 weeks later i brought in my amp, which is some legacy ebay unit, which the guys said sucked, but got the work done. after they installed the amp, in the factory spot, because it was small enough, they also had to add ground loop isolator and better rca filters. now there was no noise and the stock sub kicked almost like it used to, only thing is that i cant control my mid range and so i think its a bit high combined with the treble, still a little high, but with adjustments its fine. before i installed the amp the factory amp supplied enough power to the speakers but i lost my sub

did you use the lexus brackets to do the install. if so you could probally drill out the holes so that you could mount the unit further back into the dash so the screen wouldn't stick out past the dash piece. just my two cents, but other than that
