Default Has anyone modded the 10" free-air sub to a 12" in their GS?

I'm looking to replace my stock Nakamichi 10" sub since I'm getting a little system put in. I was looking at the old JL 10IB4, but didn't end up getting it.

Now I'm looking at a 12" Kicker F12A sub (free-air), but I don't want to give up any room in the trunk. Has anyone shaved their rear deck lid to accommodate a 12" Free-Air sub in their GS?

If so, how hard was it and how permanent could it be?

Thanks!

What Lexus model and year are you working with ? Possible interest in your old stereo if you are pulling it. I guess you're upgrading your power-amp and headunit as well or no?

Yo Kev Guess who?

No need to mod your rear deck lid. Just need to make a wood spacer screw in from underneath to attach to the factory 10" mounting holes. Then drill a second set of holes for the 12" to mount to the wood plate from underneath.

You have connections that should be able to help you out with this.

Just call me for more info!

Glen, that's good to know! Sounds good so I wouldn't have to forever change my 10" hole in case I ever needed to go back.

The question is whether or not I should go with a bigger free air or not? I've had people tell me that, if I want to make any changes, I should go to an enclosure (which I don't want to do since I'd lose trunk space).
