Had the Lexus technician check on the lack of high frequency problem with the rear driver side door last week. The technician said he could not find any problem. Either he has a hearing problem or did not properly diagnose the problem.

Just my luck my 01 GS430 is out of warranty since 4/2/05. I decided this weekend to open up the door panel and diagnose the problem myself. I found that the ML speaker is a component type and not a coaxial. I tested the resistance and found the mid range has 8 ohm and the tweeter had a open circuit (no continuity). It will cost me $220 to replace the complete speaker assembly. I was thinking it may be possible to replace only the tweeter. I had emailed to Steve Ganz (Carson Toyota) to see if Lexus has a part number for it.

Just in case Lexus does not sell any tweeter only part does anyone have recommendation of aftermarket tweeters I can use? I know I may have to fabricate a bracket to fit in the original location. Or even better if someone has ML speaker for sell.
