Hello all! I have a new '01 RX300 with NAV and am planning on installing my VHF/UHF ham radio equipment soon. While listenng to my scanner, I've noticed that AM Aircraft band (the only AM I listen to) is being wiped out by a constant pulse noise unlike that of ignition noise or alternator whine. There is no variation with speed and, in fact, is present with the key on and the vehicle NOT running. This makes me think the computer(?) maybe putting out wideband spurious emissions. I've not had this particular problem before. It happens whether using the rubber ducky antenna as well as an external antenna. Any thoughts? I'm open to suggestions however I don't expect much help from Lexus.

How about a fox hunt?
I haven't installed any of my ham stuff in the Lex (gear is too *&(* old!), but in another car I had to put a rubber duck on the HT and use it like a signal tracer, following wiring harnesses around the car until the noise changed. My problem was an early 70's GM blower motor that was always on, and created hash on the HT.
