CD changer
I did the search already but I was not able to get the information I needed. I remember reading that there was a shop that will refurbish the Nakamichi’s 12 CD changer. Mine just gave up a few days ago, I can hear the cd being exchanged and engaging but fails with an “err” on the display. Sounds like it is failing to spin the cd while it is in the slot. What do you think? Should I try to fix this or just replace the unit? Thanks.

I heard repairing the cd changer is something like $300 so it's definately not worth it. Does anybody know of a CD changer (sony, pinoeer, etc.) that is pretty much plug and play?

Guys there is no plug and play for this cars. The only option is RF module but you can get static.

I know that the 6 CD changer from the es300 is plug and play. the only problem is that you need to figure out how to mount it. it's just that I prefer a new changer without all the frills...remote, rewiring, etc.

Hello,
You can fix the CD Player yourself, or ask a friend that has a little engineering background. The unit itself is a little tricky to open, but it does not take that long.
I would make a DIY Tutorial, but I do not have access to my SC300 with the 12 Disc.
Take it to any local electronic repair shop and ask for the Potometer to be adjsuted. Ask for a 1/8th turn. The "pots" can increase and decrease the laser intensity, thus nullifying the errors.
Be careful if you are attempting this yourself, b/c your could send your laser "out of focus"...
Be sure to mark your potometer BEFORE you adjust it..so you can always go back to step 1.
Good luck and shouldnt have to buy a new one or one a 6 Disc.
