N1 is a single din flip out lcd with a single slot cd/dvd drive. the nav dvd is also used by that single slot. I am not sure if you can just short the brake lead to watch dvd while driving. The N1 has been replaced with the N2. I know there is no way to bypass it ti watch while driving.

The D1 is a double din unit. It has a cd slot and a dedicated dvdrom slot for the Nav unit.
It DOES NOT have a built in DVD video player but an external dvd changer can be added. I do n ot think this unit can be bypassed to watch an external dvd while driveing un less you conpletly disable all sense inputs to the nav
