Exclamation CD changer wire touched chasis..stereo out..help?

i have a 95 es 300 everything stock:

the cd changer in the trunk had a wire kind of exposed and i think it was + going to the head unit .. anyway this thing touched the chasis (-) and now my whole stereo is not working (no power to the head unit). i checked the cig/stereo fuse under the kickpanel. and the one under the hood and they are both good. is there a fuse behind the stereo that might be blown? also i read that the removal off this stereo could cause damage to the air vents. SHould i take the car to a stereo shop or can i do this myself without damaging the vents..thanks

This may be irrelevant but there have been some cases on C.L. where a penny or something had fallen into the cig. lighter and was causing problems. Check to see if there is loose change in the cig. lighter. Other than that, I have no idea.

yea it was a stretch but it had been the culprit of problems for others good luck on finding a solution, sounds like you got a tough one.

I'm not sure if this applies to this car, usually there is a remote wire fuse. That gives signal to turn everything on. You might look it up and see if there is something like that located in the fuse box.

There are 2 fuses that feed the stereo. Figuring those are good, you're going to have to start inspecting each componenet. The each most likely have s fuse within themselves also.

You just brought a thread from the dead. Anyway, the fuse box underneath the steering wheel where the pedals is at, a fuse is missing. I read the fuse box and its ST. I could turn on my stock radio, but I can't hear any sound. Just to clarify, is there a separate fuse for radio and speaker?
