Hey guys,
I've just had my deck installed but now i know now that my speakers can't take em. I have a 95 SC400 and so I need help on deciding what speakers i should get. I kno the stockers in the front on the door are 4" and rears are 6.5". I've already thot and decided to do 6x9 4 way speakers for the rear. But what i need help on is deciding what to do for the front. I've been told that i wouldn't be able to go larger than 4" but i notice that in one thread by asnatlas, he said he went 5.25 components all around. So i'm askin what is the largest speaker i can put in the front without fiberglassing new parts to the door or tearing anything up? possible to do 6.5"? If not and i end up gettin stuck with 4", what would be a good 4" to hopefully match up well with the 6x9s?
TIA,
Ant

YOu can fit whatever you want to use in the front doors if you like doing custom modifications. For direct replacement and the easiest route is to replace the stock ones with 4incher aftermarkets. Using 5.25 requires cutting and shaving of the stock plastic speaker enclosure. As my man said above, the rears are 4ichers also. And by now the sun has probably killed them

ahhh stock rears are only 4"... ouch... for some reason i guess best buy's computer was wrong, had a friend check it.... comp said 6.5. So anyways in terms of fittin the front with 5.25, would the modifications required be on the door panel itself? or would it fit behind that? because i reallie don't wanna hack up that interior door panel if i don't have to. Also, since there is a lot of room for speakers in the rear, i think i will stick with the 6x9s.

If you go w/ 6x9's in the rear, be prepared to do some metal cutting. The holes that the stock speakers sit in are tiny. As for the fronts, you dont have to do anything with the door panel. YOu may have some initial clearance issues but after test fitting, you will get it to all fit right. The stock speaker enclosure for the fronts is unique and comes apart in 2 halves. Once you get your door panel off, you will be able to see what you want to do. check out the sticky by RSTSpeed...he gives you many pics!!!!

actually best buy's computer calls for 5 1/4 in the rear not 6 1/2. it also calls for 4". which is absolutely the size i pulled out of mine.

with minor modification you can actually do 6.5 all the way around without alot of difficulty. the front pod in the door comes apart allowing a 6.5 to drop right in and screw to the factory hole. you can use some dynamat to actually cover the gap to give it a sealed fit.
