SC400 Volume Problem
Hi folks,
I'm having a weird issue with my volume ****. When I turn the volume all the way down it doesn't cut out the sound. I can still hear the music but at a very low volume. When I turn the volume up, it seems to jump and gets quite loud, but after a little fiddling the sounds stays level.
I'm thinking the problem is with the **** itself...does anyone know a part number for this thing and if replacing it would be the correct solution?
I've never taken the console apart before but think I saw a thread about it somewhere (will search). This volume problem is driving me crazy.
Anyone have a similar experience?

there's a procedure to take off the console and it only takes 10 minutes. IT's somewhere in the search thing....
but anyhow, I could be wrong, I don't think it's the ****. You can pull out the volume or the climate control **** if you want for *****s and giggles. Just pull it straight out, and when you're done, just put it back in.

Mine does the same thing. When I turn it down all the way, the line on the **** gets to about 7:00. If I turn it up just a bit (to 8:00 or even a little bit less) the volume goes to mute. Try doing that.

Contacts.
I had the same problem.
It's the contacts for the volume control.
You'll have to take out the center bezel to get access to it.
Once it's clean, it will work properly...

I almost bought a new headunit because of this...lol. Guess I'll be staying stock for a little while longer.
Also, props for a great write-up by a fellow CL'er. Taking off the center console was painless and just as described.
