Earlier today I turned the treb/bass/mid to the middle setting. Then I checked balance to make sure it was in the middle... and then I faded it to just the rear speakers... (the 2 midd-range and the 1 sub) and it became very very quiet... all i could hear was just a little tone from the sub... that was it. I get the feeling my back speakers are screwed up or something... its funny but I can feel them vibrating when i set my hand on them, expecially when I turn the fade to normal and have all speakers/tweeters and sub going.
By the way its the nakamichi system.

Well your rear speakers are prolly toast anyway. After 13 years sitting in that sun, they're gone man. The sub however, that could be anything man, the sub amp, wiring, the sub itself, Im not sure. But I really dont think the rear speakers and the subwoofer not playing are connected...I think the rear speakers are just fried, and the sub isnt playing for some other reason...

My rear speaker is also 13 years old and works fine, but in any case it is easy enough to test - just pull off the forward panel of the trunk and locate the wires that feed the speakers. Then wire up a speaker that you know to be working and if it doesn't work either, then your problem lies elsewhere.

I brought the car to a car audio place and showed it to him. He said that the paper in the speakers can break down over time, but they still put out some sound... the sub still works ok, but the problem he claims is most likely my amp. He says i should replace that, and if sound still doesnt improve, then do the rear mid-range speakers.
Time to search the classifieds for the aforementioned items... any idea what the amp costs new?
