Alright this is driving me nuts. I HATE MY STOCK CD PLAYER. I've called three manufacturers of adapters and not one has it. PIE, BLITZSAFE, SCOCHE. NONE of these bastard companies carry an adapter. I want to keep my stock headunit and use its controls for the cd player, BUT NO. sorry venting here. I've been talking to them for the past six months and none of them have completed anything. Pie's website has an Lexus spot but no porducts that correspond to it.

I sympathize with you. I've been looking for one for my SC300 as well as my Infiniti Q45t. I lucked out and got a lead for the Q on one of the discussion boards. They said that Crutchfield had an adaptor for the Q45. You might want to check them out...
Good luck and report any progress.
thanx!

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to bring it back from the dead. Anybody have any experience with the adapter Blitzsafe offers on their site? They say it works with the SC300/400 models from 98-on. Weren't the CD changers the same for all years on the SC3/4s? If this works, I would swap out my changer in a second. I emailed them and awaiting their response.

onelasttry is THE MAN.............. LOL really he does a VERT GOOD job on the blub replacments that he offers..... I have not had it done yet but I will soon.......... and from what I have seen with the AC / Radio work he does, I don't see why he can't make a adapter once he finds out the info needed to make it........

Hey Onelasttry,
You will have to be damn good at reverse engineering. It not just getting the harness to perform the right function. Toyota has a lock out feature that requires the head unit to do a hand shake with the changer. I know some engineers down in Austin that are qualified, but it is much too time consuming and not profitable enough. Good Luck.

The harness looks like it should let you replace the factory 12 disc CD changer with an aftermarket one. They offer ones that work with Pioneer, Kenwood, and JVC.
I'm willing to buy the interface and CD changer if someone can verify that the 98-00 SC nakamichi head units and CD changers are basically the same as the older models (specifically my 1993). Can an older HU use a newer CD changer?

Blitzsafe made a convertor I bought from Autotoys that was guaranteed to work with any 98 and up Lexus. It supposedly allowed the Nakamichi head unit to work with a JVC 1100 changer. It didn't. I contacted Blitzsafe, and Ira, the main guy, said that if I sent him the convertor harness and my radio, he'd make it work. It doesn't. After 2 1/2 months of very, very, poor communication from Blitzsafe, not only does the new convertor harness NOT work, my Nakamichi radio came back broken. If you have an SC 300/400 my advice (for what it's worth), is unless you want to replace everything, stick with the factory stuff, and avoid Autotoys and Blitzsafe like the plague.

goldz, sounds like you had a bad time with them. the poor communication is the worst. even if somethnig screws up most of the time good communication can smooth things out and work to an amicable solution. I'd be happy to help you with a solution if you want to p.m. me or discuss it here on the thread. I don't know what i could do to help, but i'm sure i can. do you have a camera or can you get one to take pics of the units and the connections so i can see what was done?
