Default Anyone hear the Morel WR8s

My current system is in my 00 GS4 is:

Dynaudio 240 MKII in the fronts biamped with a Zapco 1000.4
Focal 10" sub w/ a Zapco 500.1
Alpine head unit

I've been trying to figure a way of putting Dynaudio MW170 in the front doors to get a but more kick but Percy was right - no way. One alternitive I've found is the Morel WR-8 which is a true 8" woofer with a 2.7" mounting depth. The only dealer in So Cal is in San Diego and he dosn't have them setup in his listening room but he does reccomend them.

I will be replacing the MW160s with the WR8s, but I have no idea what they sound like with the exception of the dealer description. They run up to 3K so they should be OK with the MD100 tweets. I was hoping someone out there had some real experience with the sound of this woofer and some advice for installing.

Why don't you put the MW170's in the rear doors? Don't get me wrong, Morels are good speakers, but I'd be hesitant to yank the Dyns to get more 'kick'. Smaller mids up front will give you the midrange definition that you need. You can get more low mids by adding larger speakers in the rear door, with adequate sound deadening material. It should really fill out your sound. You could consider adding another Zapco for the rear pair with some ability to dial in EQ. The install in the rear doors, assuming you've done the fronts, is child's play.

I would NOT drop the Dyns for a set of Morels. The Morels are good, and they're technology is licensed through Dynaudio. 3 inch voice coil, specially cut windings, MSP cone...sound familiar? The Dyns are MUCH better at first order xover handling and from the feedback that I'm getting, much better at the combing effects. I'd use the 170's for the rears. Get a set of MW160s for the front, better yet, get the entire System 240 for the front stage.

I have the 240s in the front already. Will be adding the 170 in the rear this weekend.

My plan:

cross the front 240s at about 65 hz @ 12db/oct
cross the rears highpass 50 hz @ 12 db and lowpass @ 80 @ 12db to keep the image up front.

With the Zapco pushing 150W to each speaker it should plat nice. The dyns do suck up some power.

Any thoughts?
