i everyone i have a 98 gs300 and i have a 12" JL W6V2....i was wondering if i could fit that into where the stock sub is without reinforcement. I know thati might have to make the hole a little bigger but will the wood or whatever it is already there on the back dash hold the weight of the w6? thanks

 

The thing is you have make sure the subwoofer will work on free air, meaning no box. I think the W6 require a sealed or ported box.

 

yea i was gonna have a plexi glass box made....but the main thing is if the dash can support the weight.....because it would make the install so much easier....thanks

 

Mounting the 12W6V2 in the deck is not recommended. The deck is VERY flimsy. Any cutting or enlargement of the hole will cause you to take out the ridge that stiffens the edge of the hole and serves to keep it 'planar' (lying in one plane = flat). The result is that the woofer will flop around more. It will need reinforcement of some kind. You could use a wood panel under the deck. The JL sub should have a sealed or ported box because it is not meant for free air.
