I've got a 2001 GS300, and the speakers/sound system sucks. I'm trying to figure to figure out a reasonable (easy!) way to upgrade the speakers (front are my main concern, as nobody is ever in the back).... Based on the descriptions I've found thus far, the system seems to have a 2 ohm mids in the front doors, a 2 ohm tweeter by the dash, and 4 ohm speakers in the back.

Initially, I'm thinking I'm best off putting new 4 inch in the front (as no one is ever in the back) but I can't even find a 2 ohm 4 inch speaker!

Does anybody have any experience with this type of speaker upgrade? What are my options?

There is just tons of threads on this subject. When you upgrade your speakers to aftermarket a lot of guys run them with an aftermarket amp to feed them more power. The OEM amp is just so small and doesn't provide the power required for most aftermarket speakers. When you upgrade the speakers and the amp, you won't have to worry about finding 2 ohm speakers.
