dumb ?- retro fitting RX300 CC/stereo into GS
A friend of mine is convinced he can retrofit the RX300's climate controls and stock cd changer into my GS400. Im thinking its a no. He wants to do it for the expierence and use my car as his portfolio (he'll pay for everything and then some), i need someone with more knowledge to either confirm his idea or tell me it cant be done.

lexus vehicles hold their resale value the best when they have their original stereos in them. putting an rx300 in a gs has no improvement on stereo sound and would be detrimental to resale value just like aftermarket stereos are in a lexus. the radios plugs may look similar but they are not ther same wiring schematic. . an rx300 amp plugged into a 99 gs system will also not work and the climate controls will not show properly on the rx screen. then you have the looping of the avc-lan connections to contend with. if avc lan isnt looped properly the ac heater control system will not work at all. so even if the sound system worked the ac wouldnt.................................................................................... trust me i have done many lexus factory navigation retrofits of rx300 navigation system in an non nav rx300 and that was hard enough . i also have retrofit dvd computer based 2001 gs400 navigation system in a 99 gs successfully. but crossing models from rx to gs with that kind of retrofit would be quite impossible in my opinion and further makes no sense as nothing would be accomplished of value. putting a 2001 gs dvd based navigation system in a 99 gs300 had functional and resale value so it was worth doing.and a very succsessful conversion.
