I wouldn't mess with it. No name brands are not usually too reliable when it comes to electronics. Besides that, the dude is in Hong Kong so if you have problems with it you are screwed.

is there similar monitors like this one being sold that is sold around the US?? something less than 900-1000 dollars

There are some out there...but none worth spending the money on. You are better off getting either an Eclipse or Pioneer unit (if you want to go with the double din unit).
