This may be a bit of a vague question but my excuse is that I'm from Australia I've heard that in the US there is some sort of computer device that can be plugged into the GPS which allows you to send/receive faxes, email and integrate into other software and databases. Has anyone heard of it or know what it could be?
Thanks

I havent heard of this device, you speak of. The closest product would probably be the Clarion autoPC. It is a head unit that has limited abilities. I havent heard of a device that allows you to plug into the GPS and use it in conjunction with a computer to check email etc. Sorry if Im not much help, this is over my head.

Convergence of Technologies to come
Will Sirsomo,
There is truly a demo GS300 last Winter in the IDB
(ITS Data Bus) exhibit showed this capability.
After model year 2003 or later, some car will carry an IDB interface device to communicate between
CAN and the consumer/multimedia device/wireless
communication network.
You can visit the web site : www.idbforum.org
to learn more about the trend of so called "Telematics".
