hey guys, on friday i'm going out to buy a cheapo double-din head unit, i know you don't approve but don't worry its for my supra (better a stereo then no stereo) i'm gonna try and save myself the money and install it myself (including my subs) so if you guys could help me by explaining what i have to do that woudl be appreciated, there are a bunch of taped wires coming to where the head unit plugs in, some of them with labels saying which is which speaker. i'm goingto connect my subs with RCAs, is that a good idea? thanks guys

also do you have experiance in mounting headunits? thanks again..

Sasha,

Try the supra forum if they have one. The Supra may actually be easier to get a wiring harness for...in other words, no need to have to rearrange the wiriing on the Metra adapter!

I believe there is a harness for the late model supra, i dont know about the other years. The wiring isnt hard, especially if it is labeled. You have the speaker wires, then a ground, remote turn on, power, antenna, and more depending on the head unit. Connecting your head unit and amps should be done by RCAs, then run good speaker wire (I run 1o gauge, but depends on the setup) to the subs, use terminals if you want, i like to have as few connections as possible. You can buy mounting kits that will make it easy to flush mount the head unit. I dont like crutchfield, but check out their site for more detailed info.

This sounds like a pretty simple install, but do research so you can do it right the first time.
