CD Changer Magazine

I paid almost $40 for mine. I just can't believe that there isn't a standard Pioneer magazine that will work with this changer.
The magazine for my changer opens to the right and all of the after market magazines that I have seen open to the left. The local stereo shops aren't much help and I have found very little on the internet.

there are aftermarket ones
I know that there are aftermarket ones... there was a post from the old forum about that... you just have to look for it (which is quite a pain)... if anyone remembers I hope they will post...
About the price... its funny.. I was complaining to my dealer because they were charging me $25 for the extra magazine! That was two years ago... I hope the Price didnt go up... If it didnt, I'll go and get some...

I'm not a big Pioneer fan, but I believe they have made only two different six disc changer cartridges to date. Take yours out and compare it to the ones you find at an authorized Pioneer dealer. Either cartridge should cost less than $25. If you find the one you want, but they want too much for it e-mail me. With the correct part # I can find out what they should cost.
ps. next time I see a '98 ES I'll look at what cartridge it has.... or if someone wants to take a picture of his or hers I'll match it from that.
Thanks,

I appreciate your response. I have visited several of the local Pioneer Dealers and there seem to be three different magazines. Model Numbers JD-612, JD-612S and the old magazine that has been around for years (Not sure of the part number). The problem with each of the 612/612s is that they both load the CD to the left and my cd-changer loads to the right. That is when the CD comes out of the magazine and into the actual player. It appears that the changer in my ES was made specially for Lexus but that is somewhat hard to believe.
If there is an aftermarket magazine out there, I will find it and I will let everyone know the model number.
Thanks,
Justin

I find it hard to believe as well. It would make equal sense if one of the changers could be adapted to our cars with a simple plug change. I mean why would pioneer develope a completely different command system, test it, etc. Gotta be a way.

cd changer magazine
I recently brought a 98 LS 400. The magazine for the cd player was sitting on the side, which at the time raised no flags. On my home I stopped to buy a few cd's to check to see if the cd player worked only to find that the magazine will not go into the player. I called the dealer that sold me the car he says that's the way he got the car. My question is who makes Nackamichi? and are their any alternative replacements that I can use in this changer. Lexus told me $120 for a replacement magazine. That's utterly ridiculous.

JD-T612 should be the part you need, newbie. Welcome to the forums. In the future, I would strongly suggest searching before replying - it will save you some flamage.
Also, "New thread" in the upper left corner, right above the thread window would be how you would start a new thread. I know, you'd think it would have a different name, but they found it easier to name it that. Hahaha.
