alarm / keyless entry for '93 sc400
Hey all -
I recently picked up a 93 SC400. Unfortunately, it didn't come with any of the keyless-entry keys, just the regular master key and a valet key.
I just can't live without keyless entry.. got way too used to it on my other cars... and it looks like the dealer charges waaaaaay too much for a new keyless-entry key.
Anyways, I was thinking about just picking up an aftermarket alarm.. nothing fancy, I'm only looking to spend about $150-200 installed.
Any recommendations? I know there are a few alarms that they carry at bestbuy, circuit city, etc that are in the price range... but I'm not sure how much I trust those guys with the car..
Any input appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike

well for a master key replacement I went with ebay...got a key uncut for around 45 or 50 bux shipped...then i went to a local locksmith and they charged me 25 bux to have it cut. then I just programmed it myself...pretty easy but does takes lots of patience. goodluck and welcome to the club.

1993 SC's do not have programmable remotes. Also, the key comes with a chip or something from what I understand which interfaces wih the remote ECU. If you take the OEM route, buy as many keys as you intend on having at a time because if you replace a key, it comes with a new chip, and your old remote keys are useless, and become standard master keys.
