thanks for the quick reply. i asked because i am planning on picking up a 98 gs4 w/o navi and i need navi because i drive all over the place. comes in real handy!! i plan on getting a double din navi unit if i purchase the car

Yep, lots of threads on that (I have one in mine, an Eclipse) if you care to search. Pioneer, Alpine both popular too.
Don't forget some of the aftermarket external/standalone navs that are very good as well (Garmin, tomtomgo, etc). May make sense if this is a car you are going to put a bunch of miles on and sell + if you park in bad areas it's less attractive to thieves since you can hide or take it inside with you.

depends on each unit. No on the Eclipse, but it has something that disables it though.
